Baptism weekends are my favorite – but they also offer some challenges, particularly regarding with the worship team with a baptistry on the [or sometimes built into the] platform. At Northview, the baptistry is center stage in the back – with a semi-circular room, that means it’s even more difficult for people on the sides of the congregation to be able to see. So – we bunched up. We moved the risers to one side and as far back as possible. The team led worship as the baptisms went on, with the side screens showing both song lyrics and closeup iMag shots of the baptisms. If the baptisms finished before the worship set was done, the singers would simply fan out across the front of the platform as soon as the last person came out of the tank.
