Starting Today

This is the start of a new week. Opportunities will appear in front of you. To move them forward, you will need two things:

1. A willingness to work hard;

2. Courage to begin.

We usually think of courage as present in life-or-death situations, but the reality is courage is needed every single day, in big things and small. It is simply a willingness to advance ahead, knowing that there will be costs and that you might fail. That is true of any good thing in life. So – for today [or perhaps starting today] – be brave.

“Fear never wrote a symphony or as poem, negotiated a peace treaty, or cured a disease. Fear never pulled a family out of poverty or a country out of bigotry. Fear never saved a marriage or a business. Courage did that. Faith did that. People who refused to consult or cower to their timidities did that. But fear itself? Fear herds us into a prison and slams the doors.” – Max Lucado
