I’ve recently been discussing how to evaluate services and deal with problems. It is absolutely our job to make church services the very best that they can be. That being said, make sure that you’re not blowing minor issues massively out of proportion. Human errors are inevitable – no one is perfect, and many people (especially volunteers) are giving the best they can in situations where they don’t have a ton of training or background. Issues do need to be addressed if they are consistent patterns (or due to laziness, etc…), but if it’s a mistake by a person who is usually very dependable, don’t get bent out of shape.
In any case, when evaluating, attack the problem and not the person. Better yet, ask THEM what went well and what could have been better. Problems are virtually always solved more quickly (and more permanently) when people solve them for themselves.
