This weekend, many of us will gather – all over the world, actually. But not as part of a club, or at a sporting event, or at a protest, or in support of a cause, etc…. We’ll gather because we’re broken.
We’re so broken that we won’t even get this right. We’ll get into arguments on the way, complain when something isn’t perfect or the way we expected it to be, and sit inattentively or silently judging those around us for a myriad of things.
But we’ll come. We’ll come because He calls. We’ll come because we hurt. And we’ll come because we know deep in our hearts that there is no other source of real Hope. So we gather – together – and in brief, shining moments catch glimpses of what can be. Of what WILL be.
Thanks be to God.
“Has it ever occurred to you that one hundred pianos all tuned to the same fork are automatically tuned to each other? They are of one accord by being tuned, not to each other, but to another standard to which each one must individually bow. So one hundred worshipers met together, each one looking away to Christ, are in heart nearer to each other than they could possibly be, were they to become ‘unity’ conscious and turn their eyes away from God to strive for closer fellowship.” – A.W.
