Seasonal

A quick note about church websites…

IMO, it’s best that the photos on your website are seasonally non-specific (especially on the front page). I am typing this post in early August, and, as I look through church websites, you’d be surprised how many winter coats that I see. Is that a biggie? No. But it does make it look like you never update your website, and that can cause people to wonder what else you don’t take care of. Easter is often a good time to get front page photos, as is “back to school” time, and if you’re going to err on seasonal photos, choose good weather, green trees, etc…

P.S. In the past few months, I have run across multiple websites that still have Covid info on their front page. That shouldn’t be. I know that you may not have a person to oversee your website (or money to pay one), but WordPress, WIX, and the like have made it so easy that even the most technologically backwards of us can create a good, basic website. It doesn’t have to be stunning or have 100 pages, it just has to be solid and up to date. More in the days ahead…
