The First and Greatest

Ministry is relentless. Services come every week – each and every week.

In the midst of ministry, remember – the what, when, where, and how matter far, far less than the WHO. It’s sadly very easy for us to lose sight of God in the midst of our efforts – which are supposedly on His behalf. Pause today, in the middle of whatever you’re doing, and thank God.

He is your Forgiver – your Refuge – your Deliverer – your Shield – your Mercy-Giver – your Hope – your Healer – your Shepherd – and on and on and on and on…

Loving the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind is the first and greatest commandment.

“It is nearer to such as you than ye think. There have been men before now who got so interested in proving the existence of God that they came to care nothing for God Himself … as if the good Lord had nothing to do but exist! There have been some who were so occupied in spreading Christianity that they never gave a thought to Christ. Man! Ye see it in smaller matters. Did ye never know a lover of books that with all his first editions and signed copies had lost the power to read them? Or an organizer of charities that had lost all love for the poor? It is the subtlest of all the snares.” – The Teacher in “The Great Divorce” – C.S. Lewis
