You have a niche…
You are unique. Your community is unique. Your church is unique. Your team is unique. You have been specifically designed and put in place to serve the people in front of you. It may be a temporary assignment, or it may last for many years – but you are where you are, right now.
That being said, now your job is to figure out what your job is. That sounds confusing, but it’s really not. There are problems to solve – today. People to help – today. I am a VERY strong fan of long-term strategy, but nothing happens until the first steps are taken. So get busy and create that “todo list.” Put things down on paper. It’s easy for things that need to get done to remain in the idea stage when they’re just floating around your head.
As you’re figuring out what to do, remember: you are called to do YOUR job, not someone else’s. When I work with leaders (and look at myself), I see FAR too much time spent in comparison, when that time and energy could be spent moving projects forward – projects that YOU are meant to do.
“I could be wrong, but chances are God doesn’t want you to identify your worship DNA by hitting ‘copy and paste’ from the church down the road or the cool church on TV.” – Doug Hood
