A quick thought: I hear service hosts or pastors at churches sometimes spending significant time telling people what they’re going to do (“We’re going to spend a few minutes singing, and then Pastor So-and-so is going to bring us a message on 1 Corinthians”).
That’s time that would be better spent (IMO) telling WHY something is going to happen. For example: “We are here to worship God this morning because He’s God! He is the One – our Creator, our Sustainer, our Hope-Giver, our Healer!”
Instead of telling people that there’s a need for teachers in the 4-year old Sunday School room, tell them how 4-year old Cindy excitedly hopped in the car after church and told her mom how much Jesus loves us!
It’s easier to think this way if we don’t get lost in the business and details. It’s difficult to be anything but amazed if we are consistently focused on the big picture – on God’s graciousness, His holiness, His compassion, His blessings, His mercy, His love…
Stay amazed.
