TOP 5 NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS FOR 2025
#5: Understand that you really do make a difference
Take a look at this photo. Each speck is not a star, it’s a galaxy. Those galaxies each contain 100 billion stars, give or take. And those are just a small sample of the ones that we can see. Some scientists estimate that the number of stars (and – remember – we’re just talking observable stars) is many times greater than the total number of grains of sand on our little blue planet.
Here’s the obvious truth when faced with such scope – you are not such a big deal…
Except that you are. Even though we are incredibly, mind-bogglingly miniscule in the scope of God’s creation, we matter. Very much. God has designed us each – specifically – to fulfill a role in His plan. Those of us called to full-time ministry have been given an incredible stewardship and a deep responsibility – the care of God’s people. We’ll never do it perfectly, but God doesn’t expect perfection of anyone but Himself. He simply asks us to say “yes.”
This weekend, people will walk through church doors, or perhaps tune in online. They will be seeking hope. Let’s give it to them. We have the only real hope there is to share. After all, when the God that we’re introducing them to is capable of creating the universe, He’s able to bring more – much, much more – than enough hope for us.
