Words

Actions speak much louder than words. That’s always been true, but it’s especially true in our day and age. You see, we like to talk. And talk. And talk. And talk…

Sometimes we write down the words that we say (or think). Social media has made it possible to blast those words around the world…instantly. They join millions of other people’s words, adding to the pile each day. Some of the words are good. They inspire us, or educate us. They help us to be better.

A lot of the words, however, are not good. We complain. We rationalize. We self-idolize. We attack – sometimes as a dark and deeply twisted form of entertainment. Gross exaggerations are the norm. Rage-bait posts on X (Twitter), Threads, and the like fill our feeds, specifically designed to keep the pot stirred up.

Give the damaging (and self-glorifying) words a rest.

Don’t get me wrong – our words DO matter. They can have an encouraging and even healing effect on our world.

However, actions matter more. MUCH more. We’ll dive into this in the days ahead…

“The world cares very little about what you or I know, but it does care a great deal about what you or I do.” – Booker T. Washington
