It makes sense for even the most contemporary of churches to take a spin in a traditional direction every once in awhile. While we don’t want to get stuck in the negative areas that can come with traditionalism (meaningless rote activities, inward focus, etc…), it’s important to have a sense of what’s come before to really know who we are and where we come from. A hymn, a creed, some stained glass – these things also go a long way towards being inclusive of older folks that have endured an incredible amount of upheaval and change in their lives – and they help us to really understand who we are, as well. Here’s a photo of how we tried to blend the old with the new in a series on four different men from the Bible that we called “The Other Guys.”
