The Real Deal

One of the more unique Christmas looks that we did in the past was also one of the most visually simple – real trees wrapped with lights. A local golf course had cut down several trees to clear space. We approached them and they were happy to give the trees away

It took awhile to wrap them, as you might expect, but the real issue here was safety. Being real trees, they were very heavy, and could have potentially caused injury if precautions were not taken. After checking them thoroughly to make sure that they were structurally sound, the trees were strongly secured to the floor AND supported from above – as long as the building was still standing, those things weren’t moving…

They worked especially well for us, since at that time we had a new building with an 80-foot backscreen – the mixture of the physical set [on the sides] and shifting virtual sets in the middle was a great combination.
