People Focus

A quick Monday morning tip on working together as a team… Treat each other with respect by giving FOCUSED time. Kem Meyer related a story in her book “ Less Chaos. Less Noise.” about some research done at Disney World. Disney studied what held the attention of the youngest kids – it wasn’t rides, food, or characters. It was their parent’s cell phones – the kids wanted what they saw their parents obsessing over.

Don’t make the technology more important than the people. If you’re in a meeting, turn off your phone. Look the person in the eye, pay attention, and show respect. And stop checking your Apple Watch every two minutes…

“Giving undivided attention is the first and most basic ingredient in any relationship. It is impossible to communicate, much less bond, with someone who can’t or won’t focus on you.” – Kare Anderson
