SIMPLE ONE-WORD ANSWERS TO COMPLEX PROBLEMS
(note: these are my opinions, based on observations and experience – your mileage may vary…)
BIGGEST ISSUE – AMERICANS: Narcissism (ie idolatry of self)
BIGGEST ISSUE – AMERICAN CHURCHES: Fear
BIGGEST ISSUE – AMERICAN CHURCH LEADERSHIP: Nepotism
BIGGEST ISSUE – AMERICAN CHURCH STAFFS: Hyperdramatization
MOST UNAPPRECIATED CHURCH JOB: Custodian (Production staff close behind)
MOST IMPORTANT ELEMENT OF AVL: Audio (by far)
MOST USEFUL COLOR OF PLATFORM LIGHTING FOR CHURCHES (AFTER WHITE): Blue
ALL-STAFF LUNCH CHOICE LIKELY TO PLEASE HIGHEST PERCENTAGE OF STAFF: Chick-fil-A
All of the issues listed above have solutions. Having family on staff, for example, doesn’t automatically need to be a destructive problem. It becomes nepotism when there are no guardrails in place. Similarly, churches will be less fearful if they consistently remind themselves of the “why” behind what they do and the “Who” that they serve. And so on…
I’ll talk about each of these topics (and more) in the days ahead.
