The world lost Tony Morgan this week, far too soon to a heart attack. Tony was a church consultant that I’ve respected for more than 20 years, way back since his days at Granger Church and the Simply Strategic… books that he wrote in conjunction with Tim Stevens all the way through his work in recent years with the Unstuck Group.
Here’s a snippet from Simply Strategic Volunteers – thanks, Tony, for continually calling the church to be the best that it can be:
“People don’t expect their leaders to be able to do everything. What they do expect is authenticity. People will respect you more when you’re willing to admit your weaknesses. This also allows the church to really value the volunteers who are better gifted to handle various ministry roles. It demonstrates the importance of each person to the body of Christ.
Help people serve in your ministry in ways that best fit how God has wired them. Out of your weakness, others will find meaning and purpose.”
