Big Things First

Way, way, way too many church leaders are focused on things that don’t matter. They are obsessed with minor details. They focus on past hurts and future fears. And – perhaps most destructively – they spend too much time reacting. Reacting to comments and random events.

They let their e-mail inbox determine the course of their day, instead of deciding what they want and need to get done.

You may have noticed by my tone that I think reactivism is a bad thing, lol. I do. A BIG part of being a successful leader or team member is prioritizing, and then taking action to move those priorities forward.

By all means, make your “to do” list, and it’s OK to include the little things. But put the big things FIRST, and focus your energy and time on making them happen.
