The Basics

Easter is coming soon. If you work at a church, you are likely deep into the planning and preparation process by this point. This week, we’ll talk about how to make sure that your bases are covered.

Here’s a biggie: Don’t forget the point. One of the tragedies of our modern world is that our culture is increasingly post-Christian. In the past, there were people who believed and those who didn’t, but they largely knew what it was that they were accepting or rejecting (and even those who rejected largely accepted Christian morality as a basis for society). No longer…

As I work with churches, I am amazed (in a bad way) at the number of pastors and church teams who simply don’t realize that the people in their congregations DON’T know the “old, old story” – the basics of the Christian faith. They are not functioning with a Christian worldview. This issue is multiplied by the guests and “Chreasters” who come on holiday weekends.

So – what to do? Tell the story. The BASICS. The heart and soul of who Jesus is, what He did, and why it so desperately, desperately matters.
