Level Up

[this article is an expanded version of a post from my Instagram site: creativeworshipideas]

Striking stage looks can often be created by using what you already have up there – simply in a different way. The general default look for most stages is a drum riser in the middle, and perhaps lower risers on either side. The risers are usually parallel to the back wall (or screen), giving somewhat of a 2-D effect. Mixing that up – particularly the angle to the crowd – can give a sense of uniqueness to the stage, without having to have additional staging. In this case, we used risers at different levels, and created a “V” shape – looking both from in front and above. The groups of individual risers on either side were given a sense of continuity by a long stick of stage truss laid flat in front of them. #creativeworshipideas
