OK, church staffs – today is the day to take the deep breath, to sit back and smell the flowers, and to inwardly [and maybe outwardly] celebrate your victories. This was the first time in 30 years that I had Easter off, so we attended church on Sat., and on Sunday I watched services online from around the country. Most of what I saw was very good.

Of course, our work is not done just because Easter is over. Ministry must go forward and we can’t coast our way through the weeks and months ahead. But relentless, 24/7 work mode is not only self-destructive, it’s not God-honoring. The sabbath is there for a reason. I am a work-aholic by nature, and I’ve learned the hard way that you don’t do your best work unless you take a moment to recharge every now and then. So, rest up – you can debrief tomorrow…   ;  )
