Get Ready Early

A little bit of Christmas in July… Christmas is a big time of year – it’s one of the few times when average people get a bit more brave about inviting friends and family to church. It’s also one of the times of year when those individuals are more likely to say “Yes!” If you normally do Christmas in a big way, make sure that you have time to plan in advance to make it happen well. The last thing that you want to do is try to throw it all together at the last minute – perhaps ruining your own Christmas in the process [and that of your team].

My usual plan over the years has been to start looking for ideas during the summer and then dive into seriously thinking about the upcoming Christmas in the early fall so that things can be largely nailed down in November. Decembers are full of school concerts, work parties, family gatherings, and other events. Give yourself – and your team – some leeway to celebrate the season by planning early.
